Meet the characters from Shadow Slayer (Shadow Series #2)

What’s the scariest thing that’s happened to you?

“Well you’d think I’d say the Shadow Apocalypse, but what felt just as epic as that battle was when I thought all my friends from middle school had abandoned me freshman year.” – Roxie

What makes you mad?

“Well, my birthday is on Halloween, and I guess you’d think I’d freaking love Halloween. But I’m not into it. At least, I wasn’t into it before I turned thirteen. The way I saw it, Halloween ripped off my birthday. It’s not like I have this special day all for myself like everybody else. Still, I epically look forward to getting all the candy every year. But this year, Halloween was the same night as opening night of the school play and I was so excited to be on stage with my boyfriend the night of my birthday, I sort of forgot all about my birthday.

I’m not good at the whole costume thing, anyway. Last year, before my 13th birthday party (my first ever birthday party––my parents are pretty strict and not exactly party people), like right before the party, I remembered I forgot something––a costume. Who has a Halloween birthday party and forgets to plan out her costume? Me. So I headed to the attic (I hate the attic because it’s super creepy up there) because there’s a bunch of my mom’s old wild clothes up there. (I mean, really? The 60s called and they want their clothes back.) I ended up dressing up as a belly dancer, because that’s the only wild clothes of my mom’s that sort of fit and didn’t show way too much. You can ask my best friend Ally. She looked great. Ally dressed up as Katy Perry.” –Roxie

What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?

“The hardest thing I’ve had to do in five hundred years is to be honest with Roxie and tell her about the shadows––our alter egos who want nothing more that to become human. Shadows make us say things we don’t mean or do things that aren’t like us, things we can’t explain. Once Roxie knew, once I told her about her fate I knew I’d lose Roxie to the shadows, only after I’d spent five hundred years to find her.”–Drew

What’s the worst, most evil thing you’ve ever done, Raquel?

“I try to kill a girl named Roxie because my boyfriend and I want to rule the world and Roxie gets in our way. FYI? Love is a four-letter word.” –Raquel

What’s your secret?

“I like Roxie. A lot. It’s worse every year. I thought I’d die or something this year when Drew took her to homecoming. But then there was this new girl named Wanda. She was so different than any other girl I’d ever met. I mean, she isn’t really gorgeous like Roxie, but she’s got this way of seeing the world, of seeing me, that makes me feel special. She’s more than just a friend.” -Hayden

  1. Hello. I got a few questions. If you any free time … what do you do on said free time? What’s one thing you do to unwind? What’s one of your favorite guilty pleasures?

    1. Veronica, nice to see you here today:D Free time…free time…ahhhh…well I look forward to answering this question on the tour. It’s one of my favorite questions, actually! One of the many things I like to do to unwind when I get the chance is to go to the movies. I’m a BIG movie buff, it’s like a holiday at our house when the Oscars are on…I worked them for many years, so that’s prolly why. Anyway, one of my favorite movie “finds” is out now and not widely distributed. It’s called “A Royal Affair,” I’m a total fan of Mads Mikkelsen. Swoon!

as I’m a BIG fan of trailers too…putting the finishing touches on the Shadow Slayer trailer this afternoon…here’s the link to the trailer for “A Royal Affair” http://youtu.be/FGXNQu3fpP8

  2. Well…I was really looking forward to Anna Karenina and I did see it last weekend and enjoyed it. So many movies….so LITTLE TIME! I’m looking forward to Les Miserables this Christmas Day and also Life of Pi. I also think it will be fun to see the remake of Total Recall (esp. with Collin Farrell — swoon!) Killing Them Softly looks good too. How about you?

  3. Chloe Moretz is going to be a busy girl… I’ve had her ‘booked’ to play December Moon for a while now 😉
I’d like to ask a question about the first book I read of yours (and totally fell in love with!), if that’s ok? Who would you cast to play the lead in Winnemucca, a small town fairytale?
    x

  4. Suzy…that’s a great question 🙂 I cast Emma Stone as Ginny. I love Emma and think she’d be fabulous. Anyhoo….here’s the rest of my Dream Cast: http://laurasmagicday.wordpress.com/winnemucca-trailer/ if you want to see who’s who in Winnemucca. Thanks for joining the tour today. I love Chloe. She’s got a great energy about her. Hmmmm…looks like we’ll be keeping her busy 🙂 I think she’d make a great December Moon! #wouldbeamazingifitactuallyhappenedhuh?

    1. #wouldntitjust?!
I love your cast for Winemucca… Emma Stone would be perfect! Love that you cast Shakira, Javier Bardem and Susan Sarandon too. Awesome! x
