YA Indie Carnival : 13 on Halloween Dream Cast

This week is all about character. Here’s 13 on Halloween’s Dream Cast:

Chloe Moretz as Roxie O’Grady :

Roxie Speak: Tarantulas– scares the heck out of people Hamsters– hops from one thing to the other without really doing anything Cats– annoys the heck out of me Owls– knows everything Zebras– thinks everything is black and white Anteater– big-nosed Dodo– fail Condors– barely survives Dodo Gauntlet– how geek brothers turn little sisters into nerds without said-sisters even knowing Peacock– a popular boy or girl Peacock Nectar– Red Bull

Twelve-year-old Roxie wants to be like Adrianne, the peacock who gets everything she wants–a trampoline, a flock to prowl around the mall with, and most especially invitations to parties, despite the fact that Adrianne tarantulas and hamsters and cats and owls her way to get it all. But everything changes when Roxie invites all the peacocks in the eighth grade to her birthday party on Halloween and they all come. And a boy, the boy, actually talks to Roxie. She has the best night of her life until the peacocks decide they want to celebrate her birthday in a way she never expects–in her attic, with a pact to swear to never tell a living soul what happens there. Roxie gets everything she’s always wanted, except her old life back.

Ty Wood as Hayden, the boy Roxie has a crush on:

Lia Marie Johnston as Ally, Roxie’s best friend:

Jenna Boyd as Adrianne, Peacock Queen:

Chase Crawford as Mitch, Roxie’s oldest brother:

Jason Dolley as Brian, Roxie’s other older brother:

  1. I found this post the hardest to write… so many great actors to choose from–but you did a smashing job! Can’t wait to see it on the big screen now… 😉

    1. Yeah, this was a tough one. I found it hard to cast 13 on Halloween because the characters are twelve at the beginning of the story, much easier to cast an older characters:) Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by. Fun to see the characters leap off the page!

  2. Laura, what an awesome cast!! I was hooked with Chase Crawford. *waggles eyebrows* RAWR!! Looks amazing and I hope one day you can sit at a private screening, watching those very characters bring your brilliant work to life;)

    1. TY! From your post to the Gods of Production hee-hee… how much fun is this? I didn’t write my book with any specific celebrities in mind, but when I saw Chloe’s picture I was like…WOW. That’s Roxie:) Ah, heck, big dreams keep me out of trouble… right back atchya, M.

    1. Thanksabunch. I know, right? I mean I know all the big names, but they wouldn’t really do for this book. My characters are a bit younger than even young Hollywood these days. I think it’s cool that you didn’t describe your M.C. and left it up to the reader’s imagination. And I didn’t know about Molly C. Quinn, so I’m excited to check her out. Fun to dream! I hope you had fun this week:)

  3. I’m really enjoying the castings and seeing the author’s opinion of who should play their characters. When reading, I love imagining each scene being played by the person the author intended rather than one I’ve made up.

    1. I never write with celebrities in mind, but it really is exciting to find an actress or actor that embodies your character, or comes super close. Fun to play casting agent, isn’t it?
