What’s the house burning on Georgia’s map for?
I know, right? I didn’t ask. I figured it was referring to the Civil War, but Sherman retreated and spared the city. Good question! I guess it must have been for the Revolutionary War. We stayed right across the street from the bloodiest Revolutionary War battleground. So I think it must refer to that time in history. During our tours, and just walking around, people kept saying that Savannah, is built on the dead. One of the main killers of people was yellow fever. If people were have found to have it, their houses were burned down. So, it is possible it is a reference to that. I had no idea how many lives were lost due to yellow fever!
