Teaser Tuesday: Pyxis by K. C. Neal [& the amazing adventures of Oso!]

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I just flew home today. It’s always so wonderful to come home, isn’t it? Only this time we had a little bit of a scare! Yesterday, while I was editing away in one of my favorite cafes in Portland, EXTRACTO, watching the snow fall, a stranger called my cell and said, “Hi. Uh, Laura?”
“Yes,” I say.
“Um, I’ve got your dog, uh, Oso. You want to come and get him?”
Gulp.
Oso got out! And this random stranger named Nate, a very nice guy, tried to corral Oso back home. But, Oso would have none of it. So he went rogue. We knew he’d be OK, because he’s always had a free spirit. See the amazing adventure of Oso here! I digress. But, alls well. We made it home. Our dog is happy and was playing with the neighborhood kids. The sun is setting, my favorite time of day and I want to share a teaser from the ebook that kept me company on my flight home from snowy, PDX….
“We spent the next hour dissecting the letter and speculating about how we could have misunderstood any of it. He volunteered to talk to Mr. Sykes again tomorrow. I wouldn’t have time because I had to practice driving, work a four-hour shift at the coffee shop, be home for family dinner, and finish all my weekend homework. I envied Mason’s freedom. He didn’t have to worry about going to school, checking in with his parents, or making curfews.”
I’ll be posting my review of Pyxis here on the Pyxis Blog Tour Jan 25th! [When I’ll be up in the air again:)]
Hope you enjoyed this teaser! It’s SO good to be home:)

  1. Madam Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

“Then after she got married, it went away, or so they say.”

“In my case,” said Emma, “it didn’t begin till after I was married.”
